1. Do you do commissioned work/ or design dolls based on requests for a particular type of face screen or style?
Answer: No, I do not do commissions or create dolls based on requests, but I do offer quality OOAK (One of a Kind) repainted customized dolls on a regular basis. I am a mood creator artist with a busy life outside of the craft. I create original dolls, but this can only be done if the process unfolds naturally & when I have the time. I kindly ask that you respect my firm decision not to do commissions or take requests- no haggling. Please do not send dolls to me in an attempt to persuade me to do work on them. 2. Why do the dolls on this website cost so much more than regular Barbie & Ken dolls I've seen? Why are the repaints so expensive?
Answer: I have sold hundreds of my art dolls all over the world. Just like restaurants & performers, there are different classes of doll artists & doll art! My objective is to create dream dolls that are above the average doll sold today. And, to provide the adult doll collector with a more satisfying experience. I have striven to develop my skills so that my dolls rank high among other doll artists. I realize that doll art is a new form for many. Barbie & Ken dolls are used as a canvas. In the art world, no one focuses on the price of the canvas, but the outcome of the creation. I spend hours, & weeks just to re-create one doll. There are many painstaking processes that go into my creations. My dolls have handmade wigs, anatomically correct augmented bodies, painted fingernails, restyled hair, handmade jewelry, a unique existence, and detailed handmade clothes using patterns I created myself. When I am done, the doll is no longer a "regular" Barbie or Ken like you have ever seen, but you already know that just by looking at them. The price level reflects the work, time, supplies, processing & handling, unique existence of the doll, the quality, and the experience level of the artist. Ask yourself one question; where can you find a fully customized doll that is the same caliber with the same amenities as a DollAnatomy doll for a cheaper price? In a society where most things are mass produced, or manufactured with cheap labor; people have been conditioned to want more for less. Many of us have no concept what something is worth that has been created with ones hands or time. In reality, its hard to find OOAK dolls like mine to do a fair comparison. I, just like you, need to be compensated for my time and the work I do (and for the unique existence of the dolls I create). Many of my customers are everyday working people, & domestic workers. They use our convenient layaway. The average doll collector has a bulging collection that includes dolls they are no longer interested in- many of my customers sell those dolls in order to adopt mine.
3. Do you accept PayPal?
Answer: Yes, we accept PayPal!
4. Do you accept credit cards, debit, money orders, or personal checks?
Answer: Currently we only accept credit cards & debit transactions via PayPal, and we do not accept personal checks. If you do not have a PayPal account, but wish to use a credit card or debit, you may check out as a "Guest" once you add an item to your cart. We do not accept money orders, Western Union, or MoneyGram payments. Since we use PayPal as a payment facilitator- your personal banking and credit card information is NOT viewed or submitted to us. We never see it. PayPal simply sends us a confirmation of payment, your shipping address, and we ship your item.
5. Will you make changes to a doll that I see for sale, or that I have recently purchased in order to make it look like a doll in your gallery, or based on my personal request (e.g. hair style, eye color, facial features, or to mirror a previously sold doll)?
Answer: No! Please keep in mind that all dolls are sold "as is"! I do not modify any of my work to look like a previously sold doll, or in order to make it more appealing to one particular individual! Know that I am honored that some of my past creations are so well admired, and that people want them even after they have long been sold! But, the dolls are all a product of my personal artistic expression, and there is a lot of time and energy that goes into each doll! I do not/ will not make changes to a completed doll currently for sale, or one recently purchased!!! Please take a moment to realize the significance of such a request! I do not try to solicit anyone to adopt a doll, but I do encourage all buyers to make sure that they truly love any doll that they are considering buying BEFORE purchasing it. I am humbly grateful to all of my supporters who like my work enough to make it their own! But, if you are ever in doubt about a doll- I recommend that you leave that doll for someone else to enjoy instead of asking me to change my hard work. Don't worry, you might find something you do love in the near future.
6. I saw a doll I like in your gallery- can I commission you to duplicate that doll?
Answer: Sorry, but there is no way to remake an exact replica of an original OOAK doll, and we do not take commissions! All of our artist's creations are painted by hand and are a one of kind work of art, which means that she does not purposefully attempt to duplicate a doll to look exactly like one that has been previously created- and we do not do commissions. But, you are free to inform the artist what you like about a doll in our gallery, and she will let you know if there is a doll in the future with some similar markings/ facial characteristics or colors. We want you do be satisfied, and we suggest that you carefully examine all dolls to make sure that you are truly in love with it BEFORE making a purchase. You are free to ask questions.
7. Do you have a layaway/ payment plan/ reserve dolls?
Answer: We usually allow reservations & (14 days) layaway privileges for our customers who have had at least 1 successful transaction with us on DollAnatomy.com. However, if you see a doll you just have to have, and you are a sincere buyer who will complete payments for the doll on time- we may consider layaway for certain listings. It also helps if you have positive feedback on other sites that prove your are an upstanding buyer. In order to layaway/ reserve a doll, the customer must make a down payment of 1/2 the total for all items placed on layaway, or to reserve a doll- and the item must be paid in full within 14 days. This down payment is non-refundable- so shop carefully & wisely. All cancelled dolls, or ones who are not paid in full by the agreed date will be re-listed for sale. Please click here to read our most up to date layaway policy. Please contact our customer service for more details about our very limited and strict layaway plan for dolls listed in our store.
8. How long does it take to complete your face repaints, and customizations?
Answer: It can take 3- 10 weeks depending on the details of the doll, and the artist's schedule. The type of doll re-creation/ customization that we offer is very time & concentration intensive because all work is done by hand and due to the materials and methods used to transform our miniature people. The artist does not do doll customizations in an assembly-line fashion. Each piece is a labor of love. All work must set/ cure before we can safely ship an item. When you see your dolls- it will be worth the wait!
9. Why are down payments for layaway & services non-refundable?
Answer: The artist has put several weeks of work and concentration into the dolls in our store. These dolls are listed on DollAnatomy.com and other websites to be sold now. This is how we receive proper compensation for the work + time invested by the artist, supplies, and this is how we fund our website. So- if you place a doll on layaway, or have services done by us, and choose to cancel- your down payment goes towards the work provided by the artist, and towards the loss of sales due to a doll being held on layaway at your request. And, we say this with love & enlightenment, artists expect to be compensated for their work and time, the same way you would expect to be paid for yours.
*We ask that you give it careful thought and consideration before you place a doll on layaway or ask us to initiate special services on your behalf.*
10. Can I put the dolls in water after they have been repainted or have gotten a body augmentation?
Answer: No! Our repaints & augmentations are lasting, however some of our materials are water based, and water will cause damage eventually. You can wipe around the areas with a damp cotton swab, but you should not get the worked areas wet!
11. Do you ship Overseas/ Worldwide?
Due to the Pandemic we are NOT shipping Overseas/ Worldwide.
Answer: At the moment, we do NOT ship outside the USA unless you are an existing International Valued Customer, and request approval to have your item shipped to your country. All Overseas customers must use the Priority International Mail Shipping method and purchase insurance in order to track their package as it travels to their country, and in order to cover loss or damages. Please note that we also offer Economy First Class International Shipping, which does not provide insurance protection for losses or damages. It is your choice to select either shipping method, but DollAnatomy is not responsible for any losses or damages, and cannot process any claims for dolls that are not shipped Priority Mail or insured. In addition, you need to know that once your package arrives- there may be customs fees that your country may require you to pay before they release your package. Any import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be. Thank you for your cooperation.
*Please note that shipping is not free. If for any reason you are not charged for shipping during checkout- expect an invoice for the cost of shipping to your country. If the shipping invoice is not paid- we cannot ship your doll, and may issue a refund and re-list the doll for sale.*
*Please keep in mind before you make a purchase with us that we cannot control how your customs office processes your package. Some customs offices do take longer to provide tracking updates, and to process your package before releasing it. This does not have anything to do with our services. We ship your items quickly and securely, and delays posed by your country's laws are out of our control. Once we ship your items and you see that your package has left and is on it's way to the destination- this means that your package is on it's way to your country, and no longer in the United States. Please allow 7-14 days for your country to update tracking information once your package has left the United States*
12. Are the materials used for the nipple and penis augmentations toxic?
Answer: The materials we use are not toxic to touch, but they are not suitable for anyone's mouth!
13. I have a limit on how much I am willing to spend on a doll repaint! Will you lower your prices?
Answer: It is your prerogative to decide how much you will pay for an item, but we cannot base our compensation on personal self-imposed spending limits. And to clarify, a repaint is a doll that has had the face repainted, and sometimes the hair is done in a simple manner with no additional work added. Many times repaints are shown with clothes, but sold nude. To answer your question, our artist does not offer simple repaints. She offers fully customized unique dolls, handmade clothes/ fully dressed dolls, jewelry, anatomically correct bodies that are sculpted by hand, handmade wigs, and the dolls have a quality repaint- which require more time and work than a doll that only has a repainted face. The price level reflects the work, time, supplies, processing & handling, unique existence of the doll, the quality, and the experience level of the artist. Ask yourself one question, "Where can you find a fully customized doll that is the same caliber with the same amenities as a DollAnatomy doll for a cheaper price?" We understand that most people are on some type of budget, and this is why we offer a layaway plan to make our special dolls obtainable. Remember, "There is no robbery in fair exchange!" Our dolls are worth every penny, and more!
14. Why are some dolls on sale, and other times they are regular price?
Answer: Sometimes we will offer an additional Valued Customer Discount, or place dolls on sale. We reserve the right to initiate or end a sale at anytime. Since we are not a big box store that obtains items by various cheap labor and wholesale processes, we cannot offer a sale everyday. We must receive proper compensation to continue investing in our business, which offers friendly professional customer service and quality.
15. What is a "Preview Sale"?
Answer: Sometimes a doll who has a completed repainted face, but still requires curing time, or a body customization will be posted as a "Preview Sale". This means that customers are able to purchase the doll now, but will need to wait until the work on the doll is finalized before it will ship. All "Preview Sale" dolls are given an estimated ship date that is included in the listing. "Preview Sales" are shipped once the work in progress has been completed, which is near the estimated date included in the listing. A "Preview Sale" doll may be completed and shipped 1-3 days later, or earlier than estimated due to the doll's curing requirements/ progress. Updates will be provided accordingly. Please make sure that you are willing and able to wait during this window of time before purchasing a "Preview Sale" doll.
